Platinum-selling Canadian country star closes out an award-winning summer of live music Saturday, September 12

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, August 20 2026

Barrie, ON  – One more Saturday. One more massive night of live music. And one of Canadian country music’s biggest live performers is coming to Downtown Barrie to close it out.

Tim Hicks will headline the fourth and final date of the Troubadour Festival 2026 Outdoor Music Series on Saturday, September 12, bringing his unmistakable catalogue of country-rock anthems and high-energy live show to Meridian Place.

Joining Hicks will be rising Canadian country artist Mitch Zorn, along with three emerging performers selected for the festival’s popular Local Opener Showcase.

Recognized as one of Ontario’s Top 100 Festivals, Troubadour Festival has delivered a remarkable summer of free live music in the heart of Barrie. The season launched in June with The Road Hammers, continued July 25 with The Watchmen, and welcomed Barrie-raised, five-time JUNO Award winner Bahamas on August 15.

Now, it all comes down to September 12.

Tim Hicks Brings the Party to Barrie

Few Canadian country artists are better suited to close a summer festival than Tim Hicks.

A multi-time Canadian Country Music Association Award winner, JUNO Award nominee and platinum-selling recording artist, Hicks has built a career around songs made to be played loud and shared with a crowd.

Hicks comes to Troubadour following another busy year on the Canadian live music circuit. His 2026 schedule has included dates on the Going Somewhere Tour, with performances at London Music Hall, Toronto’s Opera House as part of Billboard Canada LIVE at NXNE, Ottawa’s Bronson Centre and Halifax’s Light House Arts Centre, along with stops throughout Western and Atlantic Canada.

His summer has also included appearances at some quintessential Canadian outdoor and festival stages, including H2O Festival in Amos, Quebec, the legendary KEE to Bala in Muskoka, and North of Nowhere Music Festival in Lindsay, Ontario.

That makes his September 12 appearance in Downtown Barrie a fitting culmination to a summer spent doing what Hicks does best: playing live for Canadian country music fans.

His catalogue includes fan favourites “Get By,” “Stronger Beer,” “No Truck Song,” “Loud,” “She Don’t Drink Whiskey Anymore,” “Talk to Time” and “Wreck This.” Combined with his reputation for arena-ready, high-energy performances, Hicks has become one of the defining live acts in Canadian country music.

For The Troubadour Festival, that makes him the perfect artist to bring the 2026 season home.

“We wanted the final Troubadour Festival of the summer to feel like a true finale, and Tim Hicks delivers exactly that,” said Steve Ricalis, Chair of the Downtown Barrie BIA. “We’ve watched thousands of people fill Downtown Barrie throughout this series, discovering artists, supporting our businesses and enjoying incredible Canadian music together. September 12 is our chance to celebrate everything this season has become and finish it with one huge night.”

Mitch Zorn Opens the Main Stage

Before Hicks takes over Meridian Place, Mitch Zorn will bring his own brand of Canadian country music to the Troubadour main stage.

Zorn joins a season that has deliberately paired established Canadian headliners with standout supporting artists, giving audiences a full concert experience while introducing them to more of the talent shaping Canadian music today.

The evening will once again begin with the Local Opener Showcase, one of Troubadour Festival’s defining programs and a fan favourite since its introduction.

Throughout the 2026 season, the showcase has given emerging artists the opportunity to step onto a professional festival stage, perform for audiences numbering in the thousands and experience the production, atmosphere and energy that come with a major outdoor concert.

The three Local Opener Showcase performers for September 12 will be featured as part of the festival’s final round of artist announcements.

More Than a Concert

The music may culminate on the main stage, but the September 12 Troubadour Festival experience starts much earlier.

The festival’s expanded 2026 format brings programming throughout Downtown Barrie, with the Troubadour Street Stage, daytime entertainment, food vendors, patios, family activities and interactive experiences creating reasons to arrive early and spend the day downtown.

Visitors can explore local restaurants, cafés, shops and patios before gathering at Meridian Place for the evening’s performances.

That full-day format has marked an important evolution for Troubadour Festival in 2026, expanding the series beyond its main-stage concerts into a broader celebration of music, creativity and Downtown Barrie.

“Troubadour has always been about creating those big shared moments in the heart of our downtown,” said Craig Stevens, Executive Director of the Downtown Barrie BIA. “There’s something pretty incredible about looking across Meridian Place and seeing thousands of people singing the same song together. We’ve experienced that all summer, and with Tim Hicks closing the season, we expect September 12 to be one of those nights people remember.”

One More Troubadour Saturday

From The Road Hammers in June to The Watchmen in July and Bahamas in August, Troubadour Festival 2026 has celebrated an incredible range of Canadian music while giving emerging artists a stage alongside some of the country’s most established performers.

On Saturday, September 12, Tim Hicks brings the season to its finale.

Come early. Explore Downtown Barrie. Discover the Local Openers. Catch Mitch Zorn. Then get ready to sing along when Tim Hicks takes the stage.

Troubadour Festival 2026. One final Saturday. Let’s make it count.
