Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps closes out Downtown Barrie’s free outdoor movie series Wednesday, August 19 at Meridian Place

Barrie, ON  – One last movie. One fantastic night under the stars.

The Downtown Barrie BIA’s Lawnchair Luminata Outdoor Movie Series wraps up its 2026 season on Wednesday, August 19, with a free outdoor screening of Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025) at Meridian Place in Downtown Barrie.

The movie begins at dusk, approximately 9:00 PM, with a rain date of Thursday, August 20.

After a summer of movies bringing families, friends and visitors together in the heart of Downtown Barrie, Lawnchair Luminata is going out with some serious superhero power.

Marvel’s First Family Takes Over Meridian Place:

The Fantastic Four: First Steps brings Marvel’s iconic superhero family to the big screen for an action-packed adventure filled with humour, heart and spectacular visuals.

With Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm, the film offers the kind of big-screen spectacle made for a summer night outdoors.

And there may be no better backdrop than Meridian Place, just steps from Downtown Barrie’s restaurants, cafés, shops and the beautiful Kempenfelt Bay waterfront.

“Lawnchair Luminata is one of those simple summer traditions that really captures what Downtown Barrie is all about: people coming together and enjoying our downtown and waterfront,” says Richard Tremblay, Downtown Barrie BIA Board Member. “Seeing families and friends arrive with their lawn chairs and blankets and turn Meridian Place into an outdoor theatre is pretty special. We’re excited to finish the season with a movie that families of all ages can enjoy together.”

The August 19 screening marks the fourth and final Lawnchair Luminata movie of 2026, closing another summer of free community entertainment in Downtown Barrie.
