Tim Hicks headlines September 12 with Mitch Zorn, Evan Denley, Candace & Michael and Barstool Confession as Troubadour celebrates a summer of Canadian music in the heart of Barrie

Barrie, ON  – Four Saturdays. Four distinctly Canadian headliners. One final chance to experience Troubadour Festival 2026 in Downtown Barrie.

After a summer that began with The Road Hammers in June, welcomed The Watchmen in July and brought Barrie-raised Bahamas home in August, Troubadour Festival will close its 2026 Outdoor Music Series on Saturday, September 12, with one of Canadian country music’s most recognizable live performers: Tim Hicks.

The free Downtown Barrie festival will build throughout the day with the Troubadour Street Stage, family activities, food vendors, patios and interactive programming before attention turns to Meridian Place for the final Local Opener Showcase of 2026, Canadian country artist Mitch Zorn, and an evening-closing performance from Hicks.

Recognized as one of Ontario’s Top 100 Festivals, Troubadour has spent the summer creating a place where established Canadian artists, emerging performers, local businesses and thousands of music fans come together. September 12 is the culmination of that season—and one final Saturday to experience it. The main stage hosts will be CTV’s Senior Anchor Sarah Freemark and Pure Country 106’s Stan Musial.

Tim Hicks Brings the Summer Home

Few Canadian country artists are better suited to close a summer of live music than Tim Hicks.

A multi-time Canadian Country Music Association Award winner, JUNO Award nominee and platinum-selling recording artist, Hicks has built his reputation on arena-ready performances and songs designed to be experienced with a crowd. His catalogue includes fan favourites “Get By,” “Stronger Beer,” “No Truck Song,” “Loud,” “She Don’t Drink Whiskey Anymore,” “Talk to Time” and “Wreck This.”

Hicks arrives in Downtown Barrie following another busy year on the Canadian live music circuit. His 2026 schedule has included stops on the Going Somewhere Tour at London Music Hall, Toronto’s Opera House as part of Billboard Canada LIVE at NXNE, Ottawa’s Bronson Centre and Halifax’s Light House Arts Centre, along with summer appearances at H2O Festival in Amos, Quebec, the KEE to Bala in Muskoka and North of Nowhere Music Festival in Lindsay, Ontario.

After a summer spent playing for country music fans across Canada, September 12 gives Hicks one more outdoor crowd—and Troubadour Festival the high-energy finale the season deserves.

September 12 is our chance to celebrate everything this season has become and finish it with one huge night.”

Three Local Openers. One Final Showcase.

Before the evening’s established Canadian artists take over the main stage, Troubadour will once again put emerging and regional talent front and centre.

Beginning at 5 PM in Meridian Place, the final Local Opener Showcase features Evan Denley, Candace & Michael and Barstool Confession.

Canadian folk-country singer-songwriter Evan Denley brings stripped-back acoustic songwriting rooted in honesty and vulnerability. His debut album, Deer In The Headlights, moves between intimate acoustic moments and cinematic guitar-driven arrangements, exploring loss, healing and finding peace.

Husband-and-wife duo Candace & Michael arrive with more than 4.6 million streams, International Songwriting Competition semi-finalist recognition and music featured across NBC, CBS, FOX, MTV, CTV, CBC, Hallmark, Netflix, Crave and Paramount+. Their debut album, meant to be, was released in June 2026, led by “Grow Older With You,” which received six months of commercial radio support from Indie88.

For Barstool Confession, the final Troubadour Festival brings an unexpected opportunity to perform on the big stage close to home. Stepping in following a last-minute change to the Local Opener lineup, the Barrie-based country-rock band has opened for artists including Sam Roberts Band, The Glorious Sons, The Trews, Goo Goo Dolls, Big Sugar and Texas King. Their single “Tamed” reached the Top 30 on the UK iTunes Country Chart in 2024.

Together, the three acts represent exactly what the Local Opener Showcase was created to celebrate: Canadian artists at different stages of their careers being given the opportunity to introduce their music to a festival audience alongside nationally recognized performers.

Mitch Zorn Sets the Stage for Tim Hicks

Following the Local Opener Showcase, Mitch Zorn will bring his own brand of Canadian country music to Meridian Place as the featured opening artist for Tim Hicks.

Zorn continues a season-long Troubadour tradition of pairing nationally established headliners with standout Canadian supporting artists, creating a full evening of live music while giving audiences another artist to discover along the way.

Then, Tim Hicks takes the stage to close the book on Troubadour Festival 2026.

Come Early. Downtown Is Part of the Festival.

The September 12 experience starts well before the main-stage concert.

Throughout the day, Downtown Barrie will come alive with the Troubadour Street Stage, live entertainment, food vendors, family activities and interactive experiences, creating plenty of reasons to arrive early and make a day of it.

Festival-goers can explore Downtown Barrie’s restaurants, cafés, retailers and patios, catch performances beyond the main stage, and enjoy the waterfront before gathering in Meridian Place for the evening concert.

That expanded experience has become an important part of Troubadour Festival’s evolution—connecting live music with the people, businesses and public spaces that make Downtown Barrie the setting for the entire celebration.
