A full day of local vendors, family programming and live music leads to Mitch Zorn and platinum-selling Canadian country star Tim Hicks under the lights at Meridian Place

Barrie, ON  –  One final Saturday. One full day in Downtown Barrie. And one last chance to experience Troubadour Festival 2026. 

On Saturday, September 12, Troubadour Festival presented by Paul Sadlon Motors and hosted by CTV’s Senior Anchor Sarah Freemark and Pure Country 106’s Stan Musial, returns to Downtown Barrie for the fourth and final event of a summer that has brought thousands of people together for live Canadian music, emerging artists and experiences throughout the downtown.

The day begins at 10 AM, when Downtown Barrie BIA businesses and Brightside Collective vendors open for the festival. From there, the day unfolds with the Troubadour Treehouse, Troubadour Street Stage, family programming and local music before the focus shifts to Meridian Place for the final Local Opener Showcase, rising Canadian country artist Mitch Zorn, and an 8:30 PM headline performance from Tim Hicks.

After The Road Hammers kicked off the series in June, The Watchmen took over in July and Barrie-raised Bahamas returned home in August, September belongs to country music.

And for the last Troubadour Saturday of the summer, Downtown Barrie is making a full day of it.

The Festival Starts at 10 AM

There is no need to wait until the evening concert to join the festival.

Beginning at 10 AM, Downtown Barrie BIA business vendors and Brightside Collective vendors will welcome visitors along Dunlop Street, adding local shopping, makers and small businesses to a day already built around music and community.

At 10:30 AM, younger festival-goers can head to the Troubadour Treehouse for Story Time with Downtown Barrie’s Hey Bootsy read-along, creating an easy way for families to start their Troubadour Saturday together.

Then at 11 AM, the music begins on the Troubadour Street Stage with children’s entertainer Errol Lee, kicking off an afternoon of live entertainment in Downtown Barrie.

Stay tuned as we are working on more Street Stage Emerging Local Artist announcements, adding another reason to keep an eye on the final festival schedule as September 12 approaches.

Between performances, visitors can explore Downtown Barrie’s shops, restaurants, cafés and patios, visit festival vendors and enjoy the waterfront before making their way to Meridian Place for the evening concert.

5 PM – The Final Local Opener Showcase

At 5 PM, attention turns to the Troubadour main stage at Meridian Place for one of the programs that has helped define the 2026 festival season: the Local Opener Showcase.

For the final showcase, Evan Denley, Candace & Michael and Barstool Confession will each get their opportunity on the big stage.

Canadian folk-country singer-songwriter Evan Denley brings stripped-back acoustic songwriting rooted in honesty and vulnerability. His debut album, Deer In The Headlights, moves between intimate acoustic moments and cinematic guitar-driven arrangements while exploring themes of loss, healing and finding peace.

Husband-and-wife duo Candace & Michael bring more than 4.6 million streams to the Troubadour stage, along with International Songwriting Competition semi-finalist recognition and music featured across NBC, CBS, FOX, MTV, CTV, CBC, Hallmark, Netflix, Crave and Paramount+. Their debut album, meant to be, arrived in June 2026, led by “Grow Older With You,” which received six months of commercial radio support from Indie88.

And the finale brings a hometown addition to the showcase with Barstool Confession. Stepping in following a last-minute change to the Local Opener lineup, the Barrie-based country-rock band has previously opened for artists including Sam Roberts Band, The Glorious Sons, The Trews, Goo Goo Dolls, Big Sugar and Texas King. Their single “Tamed” reached the Top 30 on the UK iTunes Country Chart in 2024.

7:30 PM – Mitch Zorn

At 7:30 PM, Canadian country artist Mitch Zorn takes over Meridian Place as the featured opening artist for Tim Hicks.

Zorn continues a season-long Troubadour tradition of pairing nationally recognized headliners with standout Canadian supporting artists, giving audiences more music to discover while building toward the final performance of the night.

And then, at 8:30 PM, it is time to bring the summer home.

8:30 PM – Tim Hicks

Tim Hicks takes the Troubadour Festival main stage at 8:30 PM for the final headline performance of 2026.

A multi-time Canadian Country Music Association Award winner, JUNO Award nominee and platinum-selling recording artist, Hicks has built his reputation around a high-energy live show and a catalogue of songs made for a crowd to sing together.

Expect to hear fan favourites including “Get By,” “Stronger Beer,” “No Truck Song,” “Loud,” “She Don’t Drink Whiskey Anymore,” “Talk to Time” and “Wreck This.”

Hicks arrives in Downtown Barrie after another busy year on the Canadian live music circuit, including dates on his Going Somewhere Tour and summer appearances at festivals and venues across the country.

After a Troubadour season that has moved from country to rock to folk and soul, Hicks brings it full circle with one final night of Canadian country music in Meridian Place.

“We’ve spent the summer watching Downtown Barrie come together around live music, and September 12 is our chance to do it one more time,” said Steve Ricalis, Chair of the Downtown Barrie BIA. “You can come downtown in the morning with your family, discover artists throughout the day, support our local businesses and then finish the night singing along with Tim Hicks. That full-day experience is what Troubadour has grown into, and we want the community here with us for the finale.”

From 10 AM to the Final Song

Four Troubadour Saturdays have given Downtown Barrie four very different summer experiences.

The Road Hammers started it in June. The Watchmen brought Canadian rock to the stage in July. Bahamas came home to Barrie in August.

Now there is one left.

Saturday, September 12 is the chance to start early, explore Downtown Barrie, bring the kids to the Troubadour Treehouse, catch live music on the Street Stage, discover three artists during the Local Opener Showcase, see Mitch Zorn—and then join the crowd in Meridian Place as Tim Hicks closes Troubadour Festival 2026.

One final Saturday. One final Troubadour. Let’s make it count.
