Downtown Barrie Gears Up for a Thrilling Halloween & Dia de los Muertos Celebration!

Barrie, ON – The excitement in Downtown Barrie continues this weekend as the community prepares for a unique fusion of Halloween festivities and the vibrant traditions of Día de los Muertos. On Saturday, October 26, Meridian Place will host Open Air Meridian Halloween and Ofrenda, a celebration filled with creative costumes, cultural performances, and family-friendly fun.

From 10 AM to 4 PM, Downtown Barrie will be buzzing with activities that combine the spooky fun of Halloween with the rich cultural heritage of Día de los Muertos. Families, friends, and even pets are invited to don their best costumes and join in the fun! The day will feature interactive art activities, music, and local vendors showcasing unique and seasonal items—perfect for early holiday shopping.

“This event is truly special as it blends the joy of Halloween with the beauty and meaning of Día de los Muertos,” says Steve Ricalis, business owner and director of the Downtown Barrie BIA. “We encourage everyone to come out, dress up, and celebrate with us in this incredible mix of traditions.”

Event Highlights Include:

– Costume Contests @ 12 noon: Prizes for best-dressed attendees, including a special category for pets!
– Ofrenda Celebrations: Experience the colors and traditions of Día de los Muertos, with costumes, dancing, and cultural showcases.
