Attention BIA Members:
Your Input on an SCS within Downtown Barrie BIA is Needed

The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) and Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) would like your opinion about the potential benefits and challenges of a supervised consumption site at the following proposed locations:

- 31 Toronto St. (back building of the lot)
- 110 Dunlop St. West (unit 4, back of building)

On Monday, September 28th, the Downtown Barrie (BIA) Board of Directors submitted a letter to stakeholders stating its position on the proposed locations of the supervised consumption site. Please click here to review the letter.

Definition of a Business Improvement Area
S.O. 2001, c. 25, S. 204 of the Municipal Act states that, "A local municipality may designate an area as an improvement area and may establish a board of management, (a) to oversee the improvement, beautification and maintenance of municipally-owned land, buildings and structures in the area beyond that provided at the expense of the municipality generally; and (b) to promote the area as a business or shopping area."
