Following a competitive procurement process, Invest Barrie has engaged FLOOR 13 and partners KWL Advisory and GME to develop a five-year Tourism Master Plan that leverages and supports the growth of existing tourism in the Barrie area, integrates sports, nature and business tourism and provides direction on growing the sector overall. The project is being delivered with the support of Tourism Barrie. The Master Plan will identify specific strategies on how tourism could support the City’s economic development objectives, including talent attraction/retention, investment attraction, diversification of economic sectors, and the growth of creative industries and knowledge-based sectors. The plan will also identify opportunities aligned with other priorities identified by City of Barrie staff including sport tourism and corporate/conference development.

The Master Plan will address the need for a collaborative approach to tourism in the Barrie area between government and business, analyze and guide ways to leverage existing tourism and sports tourism assets more effectively and engage tourism operators in activities that will grow their business and promote tourism.

As a Tourism Industry Stakeholder we invite you to participate in one of the Tourism Stakeholder Engagement Sessions taking place on November 5th and 6th. Sessions will take place at the Holly Recreation Centre, 171 Mapleton Ave. in the Multi-Purpose Room. Please RSVP to [email protected] including which session you would like to attend.
