Troubadour Festival Named One of Ontario’s Top 100 Festivals by Festivals & Events Ontario
Thursday, February 26, 2026
BARRIE, ON – The Downtown Barrie BIA is proud to announce that the Troubadour Festival Summer Concert Series has been selected as one of the Top 100 Festivals in Ontario by Festivals and Events Ontario (FEO).
The recognition was awarded by an independent jury in Fall 2025 and officially announced this week at FEO’s annual conference, Sustain, held in Kitchener, Ontario. The honour comes on the heels of the festival’s breakout 2025 season and just weeks after the announcement of the highly anticipated 2026 festival dates.
The TOP 100 Festivals and Events in Ontario
Following its full season in 2025, which welcomed more than 15,000 attendees to Downtown Barrie’s waterfront, Troubadour Festival has quickly established itself as a significant cultural event in the region and a growing destination concert series within Ontario.
“This recognition from Festivals and Events Ontario is an incredible honour and a powerful validation of what our community achieved together in just one season,” said Steve Ricalis, Chair of the Downtown Barrie BIA. “To be named among Ontario’s Top 100 Festivals speaks to the vision, collaboration, and momentum behind Troubadour Festival. It reinforces Downtown Barrie’s role as a premier destination for arts and culture and sets the stage for an even bigger 2026.”
Building on a Landmark 2025 Season
In 2025, Troubadour Festival transformed Meridian Place into a vibrant urban concert experience framed by the beauty of Kempenfelt Bay. The series featured national headliners alongside the debut of the Local Opener Showcase, introducing 12 emerging local artists to large-scale audiences in a true festival setting.
The festival’s rapid success was driven by strong programming, strategic partnerships, and an energized downtown atmosphere that brought families, visitors, and music lovers together throughout the summer.
“Being recognized by FEO affirms the quality of programming and production that went into relaunching Troubadour Festival,” said Chas Hay, Programming Partner, Hey Bear Productions. “Our goal from day one was to deliver a festival-calibre experience; artistically, technically, and experientially. This acknowledgment shows that Barrie is ready for major cultural moments, and we’re excited to elevate the experience even further in 2026.”
2026: The Next Evolution
The 2026 Troubadour Festival season will feature four Saturdays of live music, arts, and cultural celebration in Meridian Place:
- Saturday, June 6, 2026
- Saturday, July 25, 2026
- Saturday, August 15, 2026
- Saturday, September 12, 2026
Enhancements for 2026 include:
- Expanded Lineup – Additional standout performers leading into each headliner
- Full-Day Programming – Music, arts, and cultural experiences throughout the day
- Return of the Local Opener Showcase – Continuing to spotlight homegrown talent
- Four full festival dates to gather and celebrate all summer long
With provincial recognition now added to its growing list of achievements, Troubadour Festival continues to build momentum as a defining summer event for Barrie and the region.
“The Troubadour Festival is about celebrating storytelling and community through music. As proud media presenters, being named one of Ontario’s Top 100 Festivals and Events is a tremendous honour. This recognition reflects the passion of everyone involved – from the performers, to the organizers, partners and our entire community who celebrates culture and music with us in downtown Barrie.” remarks Justin Rydell, News Director, CTV News Barrie
Headliner Announcement Coming March 9
The excitement continues with the official 2026 headliner announcement scheduled for Monday, March 9. Organizers promise a slate of award-winning artists that will build on the success of last year’s national-calibre performances.
