Dunlop Mews is now officially known as Sally’s Alley

Mayor Alex Nuttall has proclaimed Dunlop Mews as Sally’s Alley, honouring the legacy of downtown business owner Rob McCormack and his beloved companion Sally. Their story reflects the irreplaceable character independent businesses bring to Barrie’s core.
The dedication:
A lane named for a man and his dog – Rob McCormack operated Simcoe Print Solutions at 124 Dunlop St East from 2015 until his passing in 2025.
His dog Sally became a beloved neighbourhood fixture, greeted daily by pedestrians who stopped to pet and treat her.
The city recognises McCormack’s work ethic and downtown commitment as hallmarks of independent business resilience.
Mayor Alex Nuttall signed the proclamation dedicating the location to both Rob McCormack and Sally forever.
TEN YEARS SERVING DUNLOP ST EAST
The Business Owner:
McCormack ran Simcoe Print Solutions on Dunlop St East for a decade in a highly competitive market.
His personality and work ethic helped him survive and flourish where many independent operators struggle.
The Companion:
Sally was a daily neighbourhood fixture, drawing pedestrians to pause, pet her, and offer treats.
She passed away shortly after McCormack, deepening the community’s sense of shared loss on the street.
City Recognition:
Barrie formally acknowledges McCormack as a valued downtown community member whose qualities defined local commerce.
The proclamation also honours all independent downtown owners whose dedication shapes the city’s unique character.
