Barrie, ON – Get ready to rev your engines and join us for the inaugural Open Air Dunlop Classic Car Show, in partnership with the Barrie Thunder Classics. Taking take place on Saturday, July 27th from 10am to 8:30pm. Hosted in the heart of Downtown Barrie, this exciting event promises a full day of automotive excitement and entertainment for enthusiasts of all ages.

 

Kicking off the festivities, witness the incredible strength of Barrie’s own World’s Strongest Man, Mitchell Hooper, as he attempts to pull the Flying Monkeys Brewery delivery truck alongside esteemed guests including the Mayor, Councilors, MPs, MPPs and more!

Mitchell Hooper, World’s Strongest Man remarks, “I’m happy to be part of a thriving sport community in Barrie and privileged to be the first Canadian to bring a world title home. Being a part of the community and inspiring people to live healthier in body and in mind is my ultimate goal. Hopefully someone watches me pull the truck and says to themselves ‘maybe I could do that too’”

Peter Chiodo, owner of Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery contemplates, “We’ve sent our craft beer to the stratosphere, but watching Mitchell Hooper, the World’s Strongest Man, attempt to pull our delivery truck is a feat we’ve never imagined before. We’re excited and eager to witness this incredible display of strength at the Open Air Dunlop – Classic Car Show this Saturday!”

 

From classic models to modern-era exotics, the car show will feature a dazzling display of all makes and models, showcasing the rich diversity of automotive history. Whether you’re a fan of vintage classics or sleek contemporary designs, there’s something for everyone to admire.

Brandon Valley, President of the Barrie Thunder Classics adds “We’re excited to partner with the BIA and other stakeholders to bring back to Barrie our yearly Classic car show. Classics in the Park has a long history in Barrie and was a yearly destination for participants and spectators from across Canada and the US. We’re thrilled to have it return and added to Open Air Dunlop. It promises to be a full day of activities for participants and spectators! From cool classics, special interest vehicles and one off builds, something for all enthusiasts! It’s sure to be an amazing day for those visiting the City and will be a yearly event all!”

 

As the sun sets, the celebration continues with a special 40th-anniversary tribute to The Tragically Hip at 7pm in Meridian Place. Performed by the renowned cover band From The Hip; get ready to sing along to iconic hits and honour the legacy of one of Canada’s most beloved bands.

 

Transforming Dunlop Street into a pedestrian-only streetscape, this event offers a unique opportunity to explore Downtown Barrie while immersing yourself in the excitement of the automotive world.
