Incredible Tree Lighting Celebration Kicks Off Noëlla Festival in Downtown Barrie

Saturday, November 17th kicked off Downtown Barrie Business Association (BIA)’s annual Noëlla Festival. With the lighting of the first-ever 35ft tree at Meridian Place, thousands of visitors saw downtown Barrie as the place to begin the Christmas season.

Presented by Meridian Credit Union, the Noëlla Festival is on now in Downtown Barrie and runs until December 16th. Part of the festival includes a Festive Tree & Wreath Lot and Artisan Market at Meridian Place. Each Saturday from 11am to 5pm, the Festive Tree & Wreath Lot will be open to the public. Similar to years past, all proceeds from the lot will be given to Hospice Simcoe. Local artisans will also be featured from 11am until 5pm along the West Promenade. Artists from the City of Barrie’s Emerging Musicians Program will be performing from 11am until 1pm and 3pm until 5pm. Finally, visits with Santa on the Meridian Place Stage will be from 1pm until 3pm. Visitors can watch the kids meet with Santa from a cozy fire pit while relaxing on the newly installed Muskoka chairs.

Another reason to check out the Noëlla Festival is Downtown Barrie’s Holly Days! Visitors can shop at participating businesses throughout the downtown and collect ballots that will be entered into a draw for a prize package consisting of incredible goodies from our downtown businesses. The value of this prize package is over $3000 and growing. The final day to enter your ballot is Sunday, December 16th. The winning ballot will be drawn the following week and announced shortly after!

New this year is the BRIX Maker Market at the Five Points Theatre on Sunday, December 16th from 12pm until 4pm. Check out local woodworkers, crafters, an assortment of tech creations and stuff your stockings full of locally made goodies.

While downtown, don’t miss the incredible Rotary Festival of Trees at Meridian Place and all along Heritage Park, beautiful storefront festive window displays (make sure to catch a glimpse of this year’s winner – Everleigh Gardens located at 104 Dunlop Street East) and always remember that shopping local supports our incredible downtown community.
