The Downtown Barrie Business Association (BIA) and the Barrie Chamber of Commerce are once again partnering to celebrate the season with the annual Tree Lighting Celebration and Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, November 16th.

We hope you will join us to celebrate this magical season! This free event is fun for the whole family and includes free hot chocolate, a free family movie, live music and a fireworks show.

Here’s a list of the road and parking lot closures in the downtown and details surrounding this event:

  • Dunlop Street West and East - Closed from Toronto Street to Mulcaster Street
  • - Starting at 12 noon on Saturday, November 16th.
  • - Dunlop Street West will re-open once the Parade has pulled through.
  • - Intersections will remain open, except when the Santa Claus Parade is passing.Dunlop Street East will re-open after fireworks.
  • - Cross-street access will be maintained and monitored by Barrie Police.
  • - On-street parking will be restricted.
  • - Access to businesses will be maintained along Collier Street, Chase McEachern Way and the Lakeshore Mews.

 

  • Owen Street – Partial closure at bottom of Dunlop Street East for the set-up of Rogers TV.
  • - Starting at 12noon on Saturday, November 16th, 2019 until 12midnight
  • - On-street parking will be restricted.

 

  • Simcoe Street Parking Lot - Partial closure for event set-up and logistics.
  • - Starting at 6am on Saturday, November 16th until 12 midnight on Sunday, November 17th.
  • - The following parking lots remain open with more than 600 parking spaces: Collier Street Parkade // Heritage Park parking lot // Spirit Catcher parking lot // Simcoe Street and Bayfield Street lots // Lakeshore

 

  • Simcoe Street - Partial Closure from Mulcaster Street to Bayfield Street
  • - Starting at 5:30pm to 7:30pm on Saturday, November 16th in order to allow crowds to safely view the fireworks from Meridian Place and along city sidewalks.
