Clean Up Crew for Downtown Barrie

The City of Barrie has begun a pilot project that dedicates additional staff and equipment to cleaning up our downtown. In their first night two truckloads of waste was collected with staff blowing off the sidewalk and picking up cigarette butts with a street sweeper. Take a look at the below image for a before and after!

This pilot plans to include additional maintenance like weeding around poles and street trees, removing banners and graffiti removal.

The Downtown Barrie BIA acknowledges that the Business Improvement Area is located on the traditional land of the Anishnaabeg people. The Anishnaabeg include the Odawa, Ojbwe and Pottawatomi nations, collectively known as the Three Fires Confederacy. The Downtown Barrie BIA is dedicated to honoring Indigenous history and culture and committed to moving forward in the spirit of reconciliation and respect with all First Nations, Métis and Inuit people.
