Open Air Dunlop: A Safe Way to Explore Beautiful Downtown Barrie

After two Saturdays of making Dunlop Street East a pedestrian- and bike-only zone, Open Air Dunlop has proven to be a safe and socially distanced opportunity for the public to explore its downtown community.

The Downtown Barrie Business Association (BIA) and the City of Barrie continue to collaborate to make this pilot project a success for local businesses, local art and culture communities and the public alike. With available PPE for the public when they enter through the gateways of Open Air Dunlop, shopping local and exploring the newly installed public art features including the stunning piece, The Horn and The Heart, at Meridian Place certainly offers a feeling of comfort for the public.

A special thank you goes out to the presenting sponsor of Open Air Dunlop - Pratt Homes. Pratt Homes has been Barrie’s largest home builder since 1890 and they’re known for building strong communities. Karen Pratt-Hansen, co-owner of Pratt Homes, noted that, “We love our downtown community and are so thrilled to support Open Air Dunlop. Being a part of initiatives that promote our local businesses and boost our local economy is important.”

Open Air Dunlop continues this Saturday, October 10th and again on Saturday, October 17th. Each week offers something new, so make sure to continue popping down! With Culture Days, October Tasting Trail and the We Dig Downtown contest, there’s so much to see!

Stroll along Dunlop Street and start exploring.
