Downtown Barrie BIA Launches Downtown Heroes Campaign

The Downtown Barrie Business Association (BIA) has officially launched its Downtown Heroes campaign! Initiated to support not only the Downtown Barrie BIA member businesses, the campaign is also intended to provide support to local essential workers during the very challenging and ever-changing COVID-19 pandemic.

A very special thanks goes to Hayco Realty Advisors and the Hay family for being the first to generously donate to the Downtown Heroes campaign. These funds were divided between Grillicious Gourmet Tap & Grill, The WORKS Gourmet Burger Bistro, Philthy Philly’s Cheesesteaks & Poutinerie and the Lazy Tulip Cafe to create lunches for the essential workers and residents at Salvation Army in downtown Barrie.

As the Downtown Heroes campaign continues, the Downtown Barrie Business Association (BIA) intends to spread the love to many local charities and organizations with essential workers who have been working tirelessly to protect our community.

Everyone involved in the Downtown Heroes campaign gets a turn wearing the Downtown Heroes cape. First is the donor who provides the funds to support local businesses. Next to don the cape are the local businesses who package the meals or gift boxes for the essential workers. And then there are the essential workers who have been wearing their capes since the beginning of the pandemic.

If you would like to contribute to the Downtown Heroes campaign, please reach out to the Downtown Barrie Business Association (BIA). Support for our downtown community makes our downtown stronger and we thank all those who have helped share the message on the importance of supporting local.

The health and well-being of our community is our number one priority and we encourage you to stay informed by regularly reviewing credible information on the Ontario government's dedicated COVID-19 webpage: www.ontario.ca/page/2019-novel-coronavirus#section-11.
