Remembrance Day Ceremony and Parade

Every year, Barrie’s Royal Canadian Legion Branch and the City of Barrie join communities across Canada in commemorating Remembrance Day.
This year’s Remembrance Day Parade and Ceremony in Memorial Square at Meridian Place marks the 106th anniversary of the end of the First World War and the 79th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. Barrie residents filled the entire space and lined Dunlop Street to pay their respects.
The City honours, remembers and commemorates Barrie’s fallen soldiers by featuring pictures of local veterans on flags each year. The flags are displayed in the fall throughout Meridian Place, at City Hall, on Lakeshore Drive, and around the entire waterfront to Tiffin Street. In 2024, 16 new flags were added to the series.
