We’re excited to get outdoors and enjoy the patio scene downtown! Did you know that there are now over 30 patios to explore along Dunlop Street in Downtown Barrie, thanks to an experiment that started over five years ago. Come downtown to enjoy the great vibe and take in the energy of the downtown. There’s nothing like it!
There’s something for everyone. Take in the beautiful view of Kempenfelt Bay while you sip a morning latte at Lazy Tulip Cafe or a cold pint on the rooftop at Hooligans. Bring the whole family downtown…there are many family friendly menus to explore and the kids will be easily entertained by all of the activity on the streets. Parents, you’ll be thrilled when the kids choose The Grilled Cheese Social Eatery…yes, it’s exactly that. Delicious gooey grilled cheese washed down with a homemade pop tart. The kids will love it and so will you!
Whether you are a sun worshipper or you tend to seek refuge from the rays, Downtown Barrie has a patio for everyone…streetside, waterfront, courtyards and rooftop patios to fit any taste. This patio season, meet a client for an ‘apintment’, sample some local craft beer, meet a friend for lunch or simply relax and soak up the scene with friends after a busy day.

As COVID-19 continues to affect our daily lives, the Downtown Barrie Business Association (BIA) hopes that you, your family, friends and colleagues are safe and well, and are taking the necessary precautions to keep our community safe.
Usually at this time of year, we are busy preparing for both the annual Promenade Days Festival and the Craft Beer & BBQ Festival. However, due to the public health risks associated with mass gatherings, the Downtown Barrie (BIA) has made the difficult decision to cancel these events for 2020.
The 2020 Promenade Days Festival, held annually in conjunction with City of Barrie’s Canada Day celebrations, was scheduled fromJuly 3rd to 5th and the 2020 Craft Beer & BBQ Festival was to take place from July 10th to 12th.
Please note that the Downtown Barrie (BIA) will be contributing to the City of Barrie’s Virtual Canada Day Celebration. We encourage you and your family to tune in.
We recognize that both these events are highly anticipated every year and this decision was not easy to make. Despite the excitement for these events, the health and safety of our members, attendees, volunteers and staff is our primary concern. Thank you for your understanding.
The community is still welcome to visit downtown Barrie and check out our new Dunlop Streetscape due to be completed July 15th for Dunlop Street East and Fall 2020 for Dunlop Street West.
Be well and always #SupportLocal.
