Experience the Magic of Noella in Downtown Barrie

Saturday, November 18, 2017

On Saturday, November 18th, this year’s edition of Downtown Barrie’s signature festive event, Noella, will kick off with the Santa Clause Parade, Tree Lighting and The Rotary Club of Barrie Festival of Trees. The parade is an annual collaboration between the Downtown Barrie Business Association (BIA) and the Barrie Chamber of Commerce. The parade will wind around the lake shore, along Bradford Street into the downtown core, and will wrap up at Dunlop Street and Poyntz Street.

Kids are encouraged to line the streets as St. Nick meanders down the parade route to the heart of the event in Downtown Barrie where you will find live music, plenty of hot chocolate from Tim Hortons, the Festival of Trees lighting ceremony in Heritage Park sponsored by the Barrie Rotary Club and the festive fireworks display put on by the City of Barrie.

Noella is a six week long invitation to soak up the Christmas spirit in Downtown Barrie. From the opening night parade and tree lighting to the Holly Days shopping campaign; from the nostalgia of an outdoor skate on the Rotunda Rink to the excitement and anticipation of ringing in the New Year at the City of Barrie’s New Years Eve party – Downtown Barrie is the place to be.

With the advent of a shiny new downtown gathering place, scheduled to open in the summer of 2018, Noella will collaborate to expand the Rotary Festival of Trees and host the return of the main tree lighting ceremony next year. Think Rockefeller Center meets Meridian Place.

So this holiday season, consider Noella in Downtown Barrie the epicenter for festive fun and frivolity. Support your local downtown retailers and shop throughout Holly Days for a unique Christmas gift and a chance to win a prize package that started at $3,000 and is now $5000 from downtown businesses! Stroll along Dunlop Street or Heritage Park and experience the Rotary Festival of Trees. Deek into one of the many specialty coffee shops for a warm beverage on a snowy night.  Create your new favourite experience in Downtown Barrie – it may just be the kind of ‘unexpected’ you were looking for this holiday season!
