Barrie, ON — The vibrant heart of Downtown Barrie will shine a little brighter this autumn as the Downtown Barrie BIA proudly unveils its latest mural, Finding Light, created by the acclaimed street-art duo Clandestinos in collaboration with youth through the Barrie Native Friendship Centre and Youth Haven. The public unveiling will take place on Thursday, October 23 at 4:30 PM, at the mural’s new home at the corner of Dunlop Street West and Mary Street.

The mural celebrates the power of community, unity and illumination. It draws on the energy of local youth, Indigenous heritage, and world-class artistry to tell a story of connection, hope and shared inspiration. This new addition brings the downtown mural collection to over 10 public art installations, further establishing Barrie’s core as a vibrant, walkable outdoor gallery.

The Downtown Barrie BIA partnered with Clandestinos—recipients of the 2024 Barrie Arts Awards for Excellence in Arts—to mentor local emerging artists and enable a collaborative process that blends global experience with homegrown voices. The Downtown Barrie BIA believes that public art is about connection, identity and transformation and this project supports local talent, activates public space and invites residents and visitors alike to explore downtown in a new way.

All are invited to attend the unveiling ceremony, enjoy light refreshments and meet the artists and youth participants. Please arrive early for a 4:30 PM start — the mural moment will mark the start of a colourful next chapter for Downtown Barrie’s public-art journey.
