Curb Appeal

Thursday, June 2, 2016

Those who visit Tuscany love the landscape, the silvery olive groves, the fields of sunflowers, the vineyards, the stone houses and barns.
Friday, September 11th we brought a little taste of Tuscany to the streets of Downtown Barrie. Curb Appeal has always been about exploring spaces within this beautiful city that are unique and often under-exposed. But this particular Curb Appeal experience was different, not only did we want to pay tribute to a beautiful spot in Barrie, but we wanted to enchant guests with an incredible Tuscan menu in a setting sprinkled with touches of the old country.

Perhaps the most recognizable parts of the Curb Appeal dining events is the creativity and originality of the experience; from décor & settings, to food & wine, everyone involved pulls together to create something marvellous that aims to shape Downtown Barrie as a unique and creative place. The event brings out the best in community collaboration.
The incredible 5 course menu for our fall 2015 event was developed by the chefs of some of Downtown Barrie’s top restaurants: The Farmhouse, Kenzingtons, Groovy Tuesday’s, Michael & Marions, and The North Restaurant. The dinner included wine pairings from Peller Estates Winery, and a dessert coffee inspired pairing from Ripe Juicery. Delicious Tuscan inspired appetizers were provided by J’Adore & Barrie Boon Burger. Fresh baked Italian bread provided by Wanderlust was complimented with olive oil & balsamic provided by Barrie Olive Oil. Guests enjoyed beer from Flying Monkeys & wine from Peller Estates Winery, as they soaked in the scenic view of Kempenfelt Bay while appreciating the décor from Sunday Crush & Art in Bloom.
Community sponsors including Georgian Mini BMW, the Bank of Montreal, Kraig Swartz from Your Real Property Team, and Good Life helped bring the event to life with their generous support. Chefs arrived to the event in a slick Mini Cooper and chit chatted with the guests before the dinner began.

Curb Appeal strives to feature some of Downtown Barrie’s amazing restaurants in a unique venue within the downtown core. Chefs are tasked with stepping outside of their regular restaurant menu offerings to create dishes that often intrigue the guests, providing them with a unique and delicious dining experience. We are already thinking about the next Curb Appeal event set to happen in the Spring of 2016, so stay tuned for more information. Want to be the first to know about the next Curb Appeal experience?
